Are you a woman of color that suffers from dark spots or hyperpigmentation? Looking for a more natural alternative instead of subjecting yourself to potential cancer causing elements in popular skin bleaching cremes? Look no further than your kitchen counter because lemon juice is here to save the day! Lemon juice has been proven to exfoliate, remove blackheads, clear, brighten, and even out skin. Although lemon juice can be a home remedy to all the above, I use lemon juice to lighten my dark circles and the outer corners of my nose where my glasses sit. |
I started using lemon juice a few weeks ago through a recommendation of a friend and I am so glad I did! I saw results in about a week and now my dark circles are barely visible.
My routine is relatively simply but I must warn you that my skin is not sensitive at all. I have never suffered from acne or any skin related problems. I don't use any specific products besides whatever soap and lotion is lying around. I have to clarify the characteristics of my skin because I understand that not all skin is the same and one might not receive the same resluts.
BUT what I have been doing everyday is after I take a shower, I pour a small amount of lemon juice on my finger, dab it lightly on my dark circles and the outside corners of my nose, and work it into my skin. That's it! If I am going to go out in the hot Florida sun that day, then I make sure to leave it on for ten minutes and then rinse off. It is important to rinse off the lemon juice if you are going to be in contact with the sun because it can actually darken the area you are trying to lighten over time. I usually keep the lemon juice on all day if I'm staying home or apply it at night and rinse off in the morning. Also, if your skin is more on the sensitive side, you may want to dilute the lemon juice with some water so it is not as irritating.
Hope this helps someone! Let me see how it goes! :)
